Fire Service Description

Fire service professionals face a diverse and complex environment. Things like fire protection, fire prevention planning, fire education, emergency preparedness, coordination, resource economics, and many other issues need to be addressed and managed on a daily basis. The duties of the firefighter include extinguishing and controlling fires, performing rescue and evacuation work incidental to fire control, and aiding in response to accidents, natural disasters, and other incidents where human lives are threatened.

Because career types vary widely in the homeland security industry, so do salaries. Here is a sampling of fire service-related jobs, their salaries and career prospects.
