Congratulations Shane on your HSEM BAS Graduate Degree and Pierce College 2018 Outstanding Student Award
Shane Moore has worked with the Center since 2017 as our Employer Engagement/Outreach Specialist and will graduate on June 15, with the first HSEM BAS degree in Washington State.
After completing his service in the U.S. Army, Shane decided to use his G.I. Bill to complete his college education and when exploring college degree programs, he discovered that the Homeland Security Emergency Management Degree aligned with his desire to continue serving his nation and community. After completing the Associates degree, it was announced that the new Bachelors of Applied Science (BAS) in Homeland Security Emergency Management (HSEM) was starting and Shane immediately jumped on this opportunity because he said “I have developed a deep passion for emergency management.”
Shane joined the Center in early 2017 as an intern and quickly became one of our key staff. He has been our lead for helping us learn about apprenticeships and was instrumental in getting the state’s Insurance Industry Association to decide to become an approved Registered Apprenticeship site. Shane has been instrumental in working with our all hazard emergency management students in several of our programs at colleges in the region to learn about the HSEM career fields and he has gone-the-extra mile to make sure HSEM students in all of the collaborating colleges have been able to secure productive internships which have led to employment opportunities including his own. Shane is looking forward to joining the Clallam County Emergency Management Department located in Port Angeles in the near future. We are very pleased to have been part of his education experience and benefited from his knowledge, energy and sincere drive to help people be successful. Congratulations on your accomplishments Shane from all the Center staff and Board.
