This year’s symposium will center around the importance of fostering robust and dynamic relationships and partnerships with women in Resilience Management and associated fields such as security, safety, emergency/risk management, and disaster preparedness.

Women’s perspectives play a pivotal role in shaping decision-making processes and advocating for considerations that enhance the resilience of communities. The symposium will delve into topics including diverse leadership in decision-making, relationship cultivation, resilience-building, engagement, inclusion, and diversity.

Participants will have the opportunity to connect, explore, and engage, with a focus on empowering women to assume leadership positions, advance their careers, and enhance their overall well-being.

An option for earning .8 Continuing Education Unit(CEU) Credits will be available for this symposium for $20 at the door

Community Resilience: Discuss the importance of cultural competency in emergency management and
the role of Indigenous women in bridging cultural gaps during crises. Explore how Indigenous women
contribute to building resilient communities and the strategies they employ to prepare for and recover
from disasters. Explore the invaluable traditional knowledge and practices that Indigenous women possess
and how it can inform and enhance emergency management strategies.
