In 2014, The Center of Excellence – Homeland Security Emergency Management welcomed Jayme Wisecup to its Advisory Board. As a Board member, Jamye supported and assisted in strengthening the Center’s presence, both online and in person. Jamye was the Program Coordinator/Trainer at Clallam County Sheriff’s Office. Those around in her community felt Jamye’s devotion to emergency/disaster preparedness. Kellie Hale, Program Manager for the Center said,

“Jamye always made me feel welcomed whenever I saw her at meetings or conferences. Whenever I needed help with any of my projects, Jamye was always the first to step in to assist. She was always supportive of my Women in Leadership initiative and was one of the sign up as a mentor for our Leadership Circles.”

Jamye’s efforts to provide her community and others with the knowledge, skills, and abilities in areas of all-hazards emergency management resulted in seven (7) Community and Technical Colleges around the state to offer the Homeland Security Emergency Management (HSEM) Certificate and Associate’s Degree Program through the Collaborating College model. She also participated in the Bachelor of Applied Science – HSEM workgroup, which is one of the first HSEM Bachelor Degree Programs in the state of Washington.

Undersheriff for Clallam County, Ron Cameron recalls his time with Jamye, “Jamye’s commitment to her profession and the things she accomplished in emergency preparedness were known statewide. By having a genuine care for her community, near and far, she touched many lives and impacted them all in a positive way. And this love for her neighbors extended well beyond her chosen profession in emergency management. She is also well known to participate on many projects to help those in need and has done so for years. I cannot seem to turn any corner…nor go anywhere, and not meet someone that knew Jamye or someone whose life she had touched in some special way. She was a bright light anywhere she went … But, while time and experience can replace the void created by this loss in Clallam County Emergency Management, nothing will make up for the personality and happiness she shared with us and communities across the county.”

Jamye was the heart and soul of emergency management in her community and made an impact on many peoples’ lives. In addition to her work with emergency management, Jamye served on numerous local non-profit boards and was known as very active in many community activities. She was very dedicated to helping spread awareness and involvement in emergency management and disaster preparedness. Her dedication to promote emergency preparedness and her genuine unconditional caring for everyone made her the exceptional woman that she was.

To honor Jamye’s memory, the Center will be working with Peninsula College Foundation to establish the Jamye Wisecup Memorial Scholarship/Program Endowment through the College’s Foundation.

Purpose:

Establish a memorial endowment fund in Jamye Wisecup’s name at Peninsula College Foundation.
Contributions can be made in two ways:

Fund Specifics:

  • One-hundred percent of the gifts go to the fund. The Peninsula Foundation does not collect a gift fee. NOTE: If giving online, the Foundation is charged a processing fee, as noted on the online form.
  • The fund will support both student scholarships and program needs.
  • If $30,000 or more is raised, the fund will be endowed and will provide an annual award in perpetuity.
  • If less than $30,000 is raised, annual awards will be made until the fund is depleted.

Program Specifics:

We want to establish a Scholarship/Program Endowment Fund with a minimum of $30,000, which will provide lasting support.

The focus of the Jamye Wisecup Fund will be Emergency Management/Disaster Preparedness. It will provide scholarships to attend the Homeland Security Emergency Management (HSEM) Certificate or Associates Degree Program, which is offered at Peninsula College, along with seven (7) other “Collaborating Colleges” across the state.

Scholarships would only be for those taking the Certificate or Associate’s Degree at Peninsula College. Program support could be utilized for the HSEM Program, which is managed centrally at Pierce College in Lakewood for all seven of the HSEM Programs. There are also colleges continuing to join the Program Collaboration because this Degree is offered through online access to Canvas through Washington Community and Technical Colleges.
