DESCRIPTION:Is getting people to prepare an impossible pipe dream or a\nworthy goal?\n\n\nGet Ready! Workshop\nJune 8\, 2021\n9:30 AM to 11:30 AM\n\nGet Ready!\n\nEven though we live in an earthquake country\, we aren’t ready for a significant event. Will we ever be? February 28 marked the 20th anniversary of the Nisqually earthquake. Are we more prepared now than we were twenty years ago for the next big one?\n\nWhy is it so difficult to get ready?\nAre Emergency Managers the right people to carry the preparedness message?\nIf not\, why not?\nIf not\, who is?\n\nStudents will receive a free copy of Deb Moller’s book:\n“Get Ready – How to Prepare for and Stay Safe After a Pacific Northwest Earthquake.”\n\n\nInstead of charging for this workshop\, we ask people to donate a minimum of $25.00 to the Jamye Wisecup Scholarship Fund to help support students in the all-hazards emergency management career pathway programs. Please see the information below on how to contribute to the Scholarship Fund down below.\n\n\n\n\n\nThis class will use:\n\nAdult Learning Principles\nMarketing efforts will shed light on how you can better target your time on preparedness\, leading to better results.\nExplore ways to evaluate your particular situation to determine where and how you can increase your preparedness programs’ effectiveness.\n\n\nThe class examines:\n\nKey errors in thinking that prevent people from getting prepared.\nHighlight the most effective element that can be leveraged to get people to take action.\nUsing brief content delivery modules.\nInteractive small group exercises.\nPlatform for continuing conversations among class participants.\nStudents may schedule a free one-hour consultation after the class on a student’s preparedness topic.\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWe are asking participants to donate to the Jamye Wisecup Scholarship Fund at Peninsula College’s Foundation.
