Part I – Disaster Preparedness and Response: Serving Farmworkers
Friday, May 18, 2018
2:00 PM ~ 3:30 PM ET
Part I of this two part series on Disaster Preparedness and Response: Serving Farmworkers will focus on what we can learn from National Farmworker Jobs Program (NFJP) grantees’ experiences. In 2017, the operations of several NFJP grantees were disrupted by different natural disasters that impacted the farmworker community in distinct ways.
Representatives from four NFJP grantee organizations – Motivation, Education and Training (MET) in Texas, Pathstone Corporation in Puerto Rico, California Human Development (CHD), and the Florida Department of Education – will discuss major lessons learned from disasters such as fire, flood, and hurricane that struck their service areas and the ways those disasters impacted their program participants, staff, administrative operations and surrounding communities. Anyone who is part of, or works with, the farmworker community specifically or in workforce development in general is encouraged to participate in this webinar.
We look forward to hearing audience questions and comments in the Q&A period following the grantees’ presentations.
Then, on May 31 at 2pm (ET) please join us for Part II – Disaster Preparedness and Response: Serving Farmworkers. Part II will focus on identifying resources and collaborating.
