The new Emergency Safety Officer Training is coming June 19-21, 2017 at the UW Center for Education and Research in Construction, located in Seattle, WA! We are very excited to kick off this course, which also serves as the capstone for our newly developed Emergency Safety Specialist Certificate Program.

Our advisory committee, comprised of leading industry experts, has been working tirelessly to put this new training opportunity together. Students who complete this course will able to:
• Effectively integrate safety planning into the Incident Command System
• Address hazards and evaluate risks associated with a disaster site, beyond the day-to-day work environment
• Identify and triage controls for hazards in a resource constrained environment
This course will familiarize personnel serving as Safety Officers, Assistant Safety Officers, and in other safety-relevant Incident Command System (ICS) roles with physical and psychosocial hazards and stressors that may impact the health and safety of workers and responders at a disaster site. Students will apply their knowledge of safety and incident command in a disaster scenario, and will employ ICS methodology to review and/or develop safety and medical plans, safety messages and a safety analysis of an Incident Action Plans using relevant ICS forms (Form 206 Safety Medical Plans, Form 208 Safety Message, a site safety plan, and Form 215A Incident Action Plan Safety Analysis, respectively).
